The 7-day Machame Route is a popular and scenic route for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Known as the “Whiskey” route, this trek offers a challenging and rewarding experience, with stunning views throughout. The route is designed to provide the best opportunity for successful summit attempts, especially with its gradual acclimatization process.
The trek is divided into seven days, ensuring that climbers are well-prepared for the final push to the summit. The route from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp is split into two days, allowing for better rest before summit day, which begins very early, around midnight. This additional rest makes a significant difference in the ability to reach the top successfully.
